PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The DHC TV project will develop a set of products based on the open standard DHCompliant, which will create a collaborative environment between publishers and content generators for live TV and interaction devices present in a digital home environment, such as Smart Phones, Internet tablets and TVs.
The current project is related to the open standard for interoperability DHCompliant which established a cooperation protocol between home devices and service robots for the Digital Home by digital technology.
The Project will perform a study reconsidering DH Compliant technological standard to base and align it, fully with Internet technologies such as Web Services (DPWS).

02-12-2013 The new Velocix® Enhanced Video Experience (EVE) leverages the Internet protocol (IP) capabilities of Alcatel-Lucent‟s Velocix content delivery network (CDN) technology to support the efficient, and cost- effective delivery of personalized video streams to huge numbers of viewers while taking advantage of the strengths and quality benefits of managed broadband networks. Velocix EVE offers the ability to manipulate each video stream to account for factors such as network conditions, the kind of smartphone, PC or tablet the person is using and the type of content being watched, thereby helping to ensure a high-quality experience for viewers.
Paul Larbey, Vice President and General Manager of Alcatel-Lucent‟s Velocix activities said: "Over the past two years we have been leading the deployment of CDNs to service providers to support the streaming of IP video to connected devices such as PCs, tablets and smartphones, thereby extending their current services to additional screens. Velocix EVE represents a huge leap forward in delivering these services in a more efficient and personalized manner."
Velocix EVE is the first solution on the market that combines important techniques for customized video delivery – rule-based transformation (RBT) and session-awareness - in the same IP streaming delivery infrastructure. RBT centralizes all of the video analysis and processing at the core of the network, where there is the greatest processing capacity. In this way, any given piece of video content can be delivered to devices at the edge of the network, closer to the consumer, along with a "rule‟ that instructs these delivery devices how to modify the video stream into the different formats needed to serve smartphones, TVs, tablets, or PCs. This process both reduces costs and makes it easier to personalize content while providing a higher quality of experience than is possible when relying on the open Internet to transmit content.
This offers a number of benefits, including:
- Customers‟ requests for video streams can take advantage of available data on the customers' location and profile to enable highly personalized programming and advertising
- Service providers can use awareness of multiple devices being used concurrently within a customer account and make maximum use of available bandwidth to accommodate different screen and programming requirements as well as the customer‟s established preferences and service plan
- A customer can immediately join a live program stream already in progress without the delay usually associated with the establishment of typical Internet streaming connections.
Michelle Abraham, Senior Analyst at MRG said: "Service providers are looking for the competitive edge that increases their appeal for their customers. Differentiating their services with high quality and greater personalization is critical to their remaining the preferred distributors of premium pay TV content. Velocix Enhances Video Experience delivers the kind of innovations and improvements that will enable them to accomplish that goal."
By combining the best of IP streaming innovation with increased awareness of network conditions and customer preferences, Velocix EVE offers dramatic improvements to the pay TV delivery infrastructure, reducing costs for service providers and enabling them to offer new, more personalized video services for their customers. The Velocix EVE supports Alcatel-Lucent‟s High Leverage Network (HLN), a strategy for continuous innovation and business success that enables service providers to leverage the full potential of their networks.
20-09-2013 IP video technology from Alcatel- Lucent will expand the currently available service pay TV using Telecable decoders for a wide range of connected devices such as smartphones , tablets, PCs and Smart TVs .
The capabilities of Alcatel- Lucent in systems integration will ensure smooth services for Telecable IP video transition and its customers , and includes consulting, design, integration , deployment , configuration, operation and maintenance services .
The solution that will be integrated by Alcatel- Lucent will include their own IP video products , innovations and equipment currently deployed in the Telecable network and consists of two main components: a cloud platform that integrates the mpx Platform and Alcatel- Lucent software modules for the management of services and content and an IP header to process video viewing services on demand ( time -shifted TV) as deferred on demand TV and personal recordings.
The IP header consists of video Velocix Cloud Origin and DVR solution (recording in the cloud) from Alcatel- Lucent to record, store , publish and create copies of videos, equipment for encoding and transcoding Harmonic video streams and Verimatrix for digital rights management (DRM ) and content protection.
The multi-screen clients enabled on each connected device will allow customers to enjoy Telecable applications using the programming guide (EPG ) ,search, personalization and recommendations.
Telecable will progressively deploy the new services from December 2013.
15-09-2013 The project proposes a technological rethinking of the DH Compliant standard to base it on technologies fully aligned and standardized with Internet such as Web Services (DPWS).

Alcatel-Lucent unveils latest Velocix EVE to power TV everywhere. Recently Alcatel-Lucent introduced a series of video innovations that enable service providers to deliver more personalized and more dynamic video services. Service providers can now offer their customers the broad range of content and flexible viewing options of video streaming, with the pay TV quality expected by prime time audiences in their living rooms – all delivered to smartphones, PCs, tablets and other Internet-connected devices.
Alcatel- Lucent and Telecable offer a new range of TV anywhere over IP-based technology. As Alcatel- Lucent and Telecable have announced , they will work together on a project to provide a new range of "TV Everywhere" based on IP technology , so customers will have Telecable new services in connected devices such as recorded on-demand TV ("catch up TV") and the ability to record and store their favorite programs in the cloud to view at any time, place or device.
Sony joins the Research Project DHC TV The smart TV division of Sony in Barcelona, will provide Sony equipment (Smart TVs) to help develop the Project DHC TV. This cooperation promises to be a new milestone in the development of the project and ensures the protocol extension to more than one manufacturer.
